Student Umpires & Referees Nomination
School Sport ACT is seeking Nominations from students who are interested in officiating as umpires and referees at School Sport Australia championships in 2026. Please see the School Sport Australia Calendar for Championship Dates.
This is a valuable opportunity for students to develop leadership, communication, and decision-making skills while contributing to a positive and fair sporting environment at the national level.
Who can apply
Students who:
-
Have a strong knowledge of their sport and its rules
-
Are currently undertaking, or willing to undertake, relevant umpiring/refereeing accreditation
-
Demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and fair play
-
Are reliable, respectful, and able to work as part of an officiating team
-
Are committed to upholding SSA and School Sport ACT values and codes of conduct
What the role involves

Officiating matches at SSA events and championships
-
Applying rules consistently and fairly
-
Communicating clearly with players, coaches, and other officials
-
Representing School Sport ACT
